sweetbabybucky: The worst part was that he jokingly acknowledged that it was sexist, but acted like it was still an okay thing to do. Okay…I’ve never understood this at all. It is considered extremely disrespectful to not say ma’am or sir in the South. Some people don’t wanna be called such and they say so and any decent person would refrain from calling them ma’am or sir from that point on. But I don’t get why people get mad at us for using terms that we are taught from the time we can speak are respectful and proper. I got popped as a child if I didn’t use ma’am or sir, it’s a polite habit that Southerners have…I just don’t understand why people get so offended…I want to understand how it’s disrespectful.
